Overview
Talon Defense seeks an AI/ML lead to lead the design, development and integration of AI/ML capabilities into large scale operational platforms to support mission planning, workflow orchestration and decision support. This role involves working closely with software developers, system architects, product owners and operational stakeholders to build AI-powered capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of AI/ML capabilities across a complex mission platform
- Design and deploy intelligent workflow orchestration solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning, and generative AI
- Integrate commercial and open-source AI technologies into enterprise platforms
- Build scalable inference pipelines and MLOps processes for deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement
- Ensure AI solutions are secure, explainable, reliable and aligned with responsible AI principles
- Collaborate with government customers to identify opportunities where AI can dramatically improve operational efficiency
- Mentor engineers and establish AI engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience, certifications, or military technical training
- 8+ years of experience in software or related engineering roles
- Experience with LLM frameworks
- Experience with Python and AI development ecosystems
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized deployments
- Familiarity with MLOps pipelines and model lifecycle management
- Strong software engineering practices including CI/CD, Git, APIs and microservices
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in AI, ML, Computer Science or related field
- Experience supporting DoW, IC or Federal customers
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Experience integrating AI into existing enterprise software systems
- Knowledge of graph databases and knowledge graphs
- Familiarity with NVIDIA AI frameworks, Responsible AI and model governance
Security Clearance
Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level or above.
