Overview

Talon Defense seeks a Malware Reverse Engineer to join our team in Linthicum, MD, supporting mission-critical operations. In this role, you will take apart sophisticated code, uncover how it works, and turn findings into actionable intelligence. You will work alongside forensic examiners, intrusion analysts, and fellow reverse engineers on the work that matters most. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dynamic analysis of malware and potentially malicious files
  • Software Reverse Engineering of malicious binaries to determine binary behavior, extract indicators of compromise and potential attribution
  • Develops or maintains scripts and analytical utilities for malware triage, artifact extraction, timeline development, or repetitive examination tasks
  • Identifies indicators of compromise, persistence mechanisms, lateral-movement activity, command-and-control activity, privilege escalation, credential abuse and other adversary behaviors
  • Prepares complete, technically accurate and formatted Malware Analysis Reports
  • May support in technical peer review activities, technical input to training and quality assurance activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in digital forensics, computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, criminal justice or a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in digital forensics/reverse engineering/malware analysis
  • One of the following certifications: GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), EC-Council Certified Reverse Engineering Analyst (C|REA), DC3 Cyber Training Academy Digital Forensic Examiner (DFE), GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI)
  • Proven experience performing software reverse engineering using capabilities such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, or equivalent tools
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Digital Forensics, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience supporting DoW, IC or Federal customers

Compensation

$150,000 - $200,000 per year

Salary offered will depend on numerous qualifying factors such as clearance, degree and the years and depth of applicable experience.

Security Clearance

Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level with SCI eligibility.
