Overview

Talon Defense is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of modern web-based applications supporting cyber operations and research missions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing and deploying containerized applications, architecting cloud-based solutions, and building secure, scalable software systems. This role will contribute across the entire software lifecycle—from system architecture and development to deployment and maintenance within secure operational environments. The candidate will be expected to mentor junior engineers while driving best practices in secure software development and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications supporting cyber research and operational missions
  • Lead the deployment and management of Docker-based applications in secure development environments
  • Develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python and other modern programming languages
  • Build responsive and secure front-end interfaces using JavaScript and modern web frameworks
  • Architect and manage application deployments within AWS and Azure cloud environments
  • Implement and enforce secure software development practices and DevSecOps principles
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Collaborate with cyber operators, researchers, engineers, and mission stakeholders to deliver mission-relevant capabilities
  • Ensure software operates effectively within secure development and operational environments used by USCYBERCOM
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and development teams
  • Support system integration, testing, and operational deployment in classified environments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field, or equivalent experience, certifications, or military technical training
  • 7+ years of experience designing, developing, modifying, documenting, and integrating software programming applications using Agile methodologies
  • 7+ years of experience in software development using modern programming languages and web development technologies, including Python and JavaScript
  • Extensive experience developing full-stack applications, including backend services, APIs, and modern web interfaces
  • Experience developing and testing interfaces between software products and third-party systems
  • Strong experience with Docker containerization and container-based deployments
  • Experience designing and deploying applications within AWS and/or Azure cloud environments
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Ability to work within classified or secure development environments
  • Demonstrated ability to debug, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain complex application systems
  • Ability to lead technical efforts and guide software architecture decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field
  • Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community cyber missions
  • Knowledge of USCYBERCOM development environments and operational workflows
  • Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines and automated security testing
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures and distributed systems
  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience briefing technical and mission stakeholders

Security Clearance

Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI level and at least a CI Polygraph is required.
